Your Agent Profile Page: What Buyers Look For Before They Call
Buyers check your agent profile page before they call. Here is what they look for, what makes them leave, and a section-by-section fix you can do today.
A buyer sees your number on a sale board, a portal listing or a WhatsApp forward. Before they call, most of them do one thing: they search your name. What they find in those thirty seconds decides whether the call happens at all. Your agent profile page is that first meeting, and most agents have never looked at it through a buyer's eyes.
This article walks through what buyers actually check on an agent profile page, in the order they check it, and what to fix in each section.
The thirty-second test buyers run on every agent
Put yourself in the buyer's position. They are about to hand their phone number, budget and family's requirements to a stranger. They want three questions answered fast:
- Is this a real person who actually works in my area?
- Have other people dealt with them and come out happy?
- Can I reach them without a fight?
Everything on your agent profile page should serve one of those three questions. Anything else is decoration.
What buyers look for on your agent profile page, section by section
A real name and a real face
Buyers skip profiles with a logo instead of a face, or a blurry photo cropped from a wedding. You need a recent photo, shoulders up, plain background, looking at the camera. Use your actual name, not only a firm name. People buy from people.
If you operate under a brand, put both: "Gurjeet Singh, Singh Properties, Mohali". That tells the buyer who will pick up the phone and who stands behind them.
Where you work, stated precisely
"Serving all of Punjab and Chandigarh" reads like nobody. "Flats and plots in Mohali Sectors 66 to 91, Aerocity and Zirakpur" reads like an expert. Buyers are searching for someone who knows their three sectors, not someone who claims the whole state.
List your areas as a short line under your name. If you specialise by property type as well, say so. A narrow focus is a trust signal; our guide on choosing a niche between plots, luxury, rentals and commercial explains why narrowing usually brings more leads, not fewer.
Your RERA number
Buyers are increasingly aware that agents should be RERA-registered. If you are, show the number prominently. It costs you nothing and quietly separates you from the unregistered competition. If you are not yet registered, that is a gap to close; see why showing your RERA number builds trust.
Live listings, with photos that match reality
This is where buyers spend the most time. They want to see what you are currently selling, because it tells them your price band, your areas and your standards. A profile page with zero listings looks inactive. A profile with listings marked "Sold" next to active ones looks busy and successful.
Each listing should have at least one strong exterior photo, a price or price band, the configuration, and a clear way to enquire. Listings that say "price on request" with one dark photo make buyers wonder what you are hiding.
Reviews from real clients
Two or three short reviews with a first name and a locality ("Priya, bought a 3BHK in Sector 79") do more than a paragraph of self-praise. Buyers look for specifics: did the agent show up on time, did they handle the paperwork, did they disappear after the token?
Ask for reviews in the week after registration, when gratitude is highest. Our guide on getting genuine client reviews has the exact message to send. Moderate what goes live, but never fabricate; buyers can smell it.
One obvious way to contact you
A phone number that is tappable on mobile, a WhatsApp button, and a short enquiry form. That is all. If a buyer has to copy a number, open another app and type it, a meaningful share of them will not bother.
Make sure the number on the page is the one you actually answer. Many profile pages still show an old office landline.
A short "about" that talks about them, not you
Three or four sentences. Not your life story, not "dynamic professional with a passion for real estate". Something like:
I have been helping families buy and sell in Mohali and Kharar since 2016. I handle the paperwork end to end, I answer my phone, and I will tell you honestly if a property is overpriced. Most of my clients come from referrals.
That paragraph answers "why you" without sounding like an advertisement.
What makes buyers leave without calling
Run through this list against your own page:
- No photo or a stock photo. Reads as either fake or hiding something.
- Listings from two years ago still showing as available. Buyers assume you are inactive or careless.
- Broken WhatsApp link or wrong number. You never find out how many people this cost you.
- Pop-ups or forced sign-ups before seeing listings. Buyers close the tab.
- A slow page on mobile data. Most buyers are on a phone, often on patchy 4G at a site or in a lift. If the page takes more than a few seconds, they are gone.
- Price on every listing hidden. One or two is understandable; all of them signals that the numbers are negotiable against the buyer.
Build it once, keep it current
You do not need a web developer for any of this. An agent profile page that lists your areas, your RERA number, your live listings, approved reviews and a WhatsApp button can be set up in an afternoon. To see what the finished version looks like, have a look at a live agent page and notice how little text it actually contains; the listings and reviews do the talking.
On My Property Pages the free plan gives you the profile page plus four property pages, and client reviews only go live after you approve them, which keeps the page honest without letting a single grumpy comment define you. If you want a checklist for the listing pages that sit under your profile, what a high-converting property page looks like walks through every element.
Then keep a monthly habit:
- Mark anything sold or rented as sold, rather than deleting it. Sold badges are proof of work.
- Add at least one new review if you closed a deal.
- Check your phone number and areas.
- Open the page on your own phone over mobile data and time it.
A buyer's-eye checklist
Before you publish, hand your phone to a friend who has never seen the page and ask them to answer these questions in under a minute:
- What is this agent's name and what do they look like?
- Which areas do they work in?
- What is the cheapest and most expensive thing they are selling right now?
- Has anyone recommended them?
- How would you contact them?
If your friend stumbles on any answer, a buyer will too. Fix that section first.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a full website or is an agent profile page enough?
For most independent agents a single well-built profile page with your listings, areas, reviews and a contact button does the job. A full website only earns its keep once you have a team and content to fill it.
Should I show my photo on my profile page?
Yes. A clear, recent photo of your face is the single biggest trust signal on the page. Buyers want to know who they will meet at the site visit.
How often should I update my agent profile page?
Review it monthly. Remove sold listings or mark them sold, add new reviews, and check that your phone number and areas are still accurate.
