A worked example
A ₹1.5 crore flat in Delhi: in a woman's name, duty is ₹6,00,000 and registration ₹1,50,100 — ₹7,50,100. In a man's name it is ₹9,00,000 + ₹1,50,100 = ₹10,50,100. The concession is worth ₹3,00,000.
Circle rates
Delhi publishes circle rates by category of colony (A to H) and property type. Duty is charged on the higher of circle rate and agreement value. Category A colonies carry the highest notified rates, so the duty on a prime property can materially exceed the naive percentage of the sale price.
